Acer Swift 7 — First Looks — Thinnest Laptop Ever

Home » Acer Swift 7 — First Looks — Thinnest Laptop Ever

This honor has been held by several different computer manufacturers in the past. But recently, Acer snagged the “thinnest laptop ever” crown with their launch of the Acer Swift 7.
Swift 7
The Swift 7 measures a thin and sleek 9.9mm thick. That’s less than one centimeter. It weighs only 2.48 pounds. The unibody aluminum body is finished in black and gold. At first glance, the thinness is obvious. The whole laptop looks are pretty dynamic. The gold color of keyboard background and the large touchpad add a touch of elegance.

The Swift 7 features an Intel Core i5 processor, a 256GB SSD, and 8GB of RAM. It also has 802.11ac Wi-Fi support, and a pair of USB C ports for fast data transfer and connection to an external display and charging. This thinnest laptop ever also has a fingerprint reader, the latest 802.11ac with MU-MIMO wireless connectivity, and dual Dolby Audio speakers.
The 13.3-inch 1080p display, features IPS technology for wide viewing angles and is covered by Gorilla Glass for strength. The Swift 7 touts 9 hours of battery life. Others in the Swift lineup feature up to 13 hours of battery life. I guess you always have to sacrifice something for that “thinness.”

The Acer Swift 7 is shown on the Acer website. As its top-of-the-line Swift computer and for the price, I was a bit disappointed in the i5 processor. This laptop ought to have an i7 processor.
Full specs are available at the Acer website.
The Swift Laptop Lineup
The new Swift laptops will come in three other models: Swift 1, Swift 3, and Swift 5.
The Swift 1 will be the budget priced laptop, but it will still be highly portable at 3.5 pounds and 17.9 mm thick.  It has a 14” display, but features a skimpy Celeron processor with 4GB of memory.
The Swift 3 may be the model for many to purchase. It is 17.95 mm high and weight 3.1 pounds. It will have a 14” HD display, 256 GB SSD, a Intel Core i5 processor, and 8 GB memory. It will have a High Dynamic Range HD webcam, built-in fingerprint scanner, Type-C port, a large 72mm touchpad, and 12 hour battery life. Several options will be available including a backlit keyboard. Full specs are available at the Acer website.
The Swift 5 will be just 14.58 mm high and will weigh 3 pounds. It manages to fit a full 14” IPS display into a 13” frame. It will feature a 256 or 512 SATA or PCIe) and up to 8GB of memory. It will have a backlit keyboard, reversible USB 3.1 Type-C port, options for a touch display, stereo speakers, and a fingerprint reader. The stylish finish features Pearl White with gold or Obsidian Black with silver accents. Best of all, it has a 13 hour battery life.
All the Swift laptops will come with Windows 10 Home. The Swift 1 and Swift 5 have not yet appeared on the Acer website.
