The ASRock X99 Extreme6/3.1 has power and reset buttons, and a two-digit POST status display. Additionally, it has two BIOS chips selectable by a small switch. The motherboard supports installation of a TPM (Trusted Platform Module), which stores encryption keys in order to improve the computer security.

Besides having one USB 3.1 port at its rear panel, this motherboard brings two USB 3.1 type A ports on a PCI Express x4 expansion card, shown in Figure 8. This card uses an ASMedia ASM1142 chip.
