We were really impressed by the Fractal Design Define XL. Its construction quality is superb, allowing you to build a high-end system with very low noise level at a very affordable price. The only real negative of this case is that you will probably need to rent a crane to put your computer on your desk after you install three video cards.

Strong Points

  • Superior construction quality
  • Polycarbonate layer on the side panels
  • Foam layer behind the front door
  • Support for E-ATX motherboards
  • Interior divided into two compartments
  • Air filters for the front and power supply fans
  • Mesh for the left-side fan comes closed with dampening foam
  • Vented 5.25” bay covers with air filter
  • Vented slot covers
  • Support for 10 3.5”/2.5” storage devices
  • Expansion cards are fastened using thumbscrews
  • A huge hole in the motherboard tray for accessing the backplate of the CPU cooler
  • Holes protected with rubber covers for routing cables behind the motherboard tray
  • Metallic clips for fastening cables using cable ties

Weak Points

  • Could have eight expansion slots
  • Some users don’t like cases with front doors
