The cooler used on this video card is so big that it uses the PCI slot right next to the AGP slot. On the other hand, the cooler blows the hot air generated by the card outside the case, which is very good to lower the temperature inside the PC.

We disassembled the video card heatsink to take a look at the memory chip used. This video card uses 1.6 ns GDDR3 memory chips from Samsung which can run up to 1.2 GHz, according to the manufacturer. Since Radeon X850 XT Platinum Edition accesses the memory at 1.18 GHz, there is less than 2% headroom for overclocking the memory inside the memory’s specifications. But of course you can try overclock it over its specs.
