The Aspire 5742Z comes in two brown cardboard boxes, offering good protection for transportation. In Figure 1, you can see what accompanies the laptop: Just the power supply and simple manuals.

In Figure 2, you see the Aspire 5742Z. The good news is that it doesn’t use the common “black piano” finishing, which scratches just by looking at it. It has a texturized finish, so even if it gets marked by greased fingers, it doesn’t get scratched easily.

At the right panel of the laptop you can see the optical unit (DVD rewriter), two USB 2.0 ports, and the Kensington lock.

At the left panel we found the power supply connector, CPU cooler exhaust opening, VGA output, Gigabit Ethernet port, HDMI port, one USB 2.0 port, and the audio connectors (microphone and headphones).
