CM Storm Scout Case Review
Conclusions
Contents
CM Storm Scout is a mid-tower case targeted to the user that demands a high-quality product and, at the same time, doesn’t want to pay a fortune for a high-end case. Here is a summary of what we found about this product.
Strong Points
- Top-notch paint job and overall quality.
- Sturdy top handle is a must for those who want to carry their computer around.
- On/off switch for the LEDs from the fans.
- Very good number of hard disk drive bays (five or six, if you use the 5.25”-to-3.5” adapter) for the high-end user.
- Adapter to convert any 3.5” bay into a 2.5” or 1.8” bay.
- Excellent screwless mechanisms.
- Dust filters.
- Meshed bay covers.
- Four USB ports, vertically oriented, so you can install four “fat” USB devices at the same time.
- eSATA port.
- No live edges where you could cut yourself while building your PC.
- Outstanding cost/benefit ratio for a high-end product.
Weak Points
- No speed control for the fans.
- Fans could come with three-pin connectors to allow monitoring their speed through the motherboard.
- No anti-vibration mechanisms for the hard disk drives.
In summary, we were very impressed by CM Storm Scout. It provides a top-notch quality at a very affordable price (USD 109 suggested price), being the kind of product we like to recommend. If you are a regular user or a high-end user, it doesn’t matter: you will love this case.
