NZXT Zero 2 Case Review

Conclusions

NZXT Zero 2 is a full-tower case targeted to the user that wants an inexpensive full-tower case with lots of places for installing optional fans. Here is a summary of what we found about this product.

Strong Points

  • Amazing number of hard disk drive bays that will please even very high-end users (six, seven or eight, depending whether you have external 3.5” devices or not).
  • Dust filter on the front fan.
  • The holes where the rear fans are installed are completely opened.
  • Very affordable price for a full-tower case.
  • No live edges where you could cut yourself while building your PC.

Weak Points

  • Even though this case can have a total of nine fans, it only comes with three of them.
  • We think the top and bottom fans should be at least 120 mm models, not 80 mm.
  • We think the holes on the mesh from the top and bottom fans should be bigger or completely opened like it happens with the rear fans.
  • No speed control for the fans.
  • No anti-vibration mechanisms for the hard disk drives.
  • The two USB ports should be more far away from each other.
  • Could have four USB ports.
  • Could have come with thumbscrews for fastening daughterboards.
  • On/off and reset switches are located behind the front door.

In summary, even though this is a good option for the user looking for an inexpensive full-tower case, we expected more from it. If fact, it is just a tiny little bit bigger than mid-tower cases, so you may want to compare it to mid-tower products. Even though NZXT Zero 2 isn’t a bad product, we think that there are products on the market providing a better cost/benefit ratio, like Tempest also from NZXT, which provides a better overall quality and costs only USD 10 more.
